ALEF NULA, a.s. position is unique in several ways, especially in case of ITonis Media platform and Motorola STBs. ALEF NULA, a.s. has licence permitting further development and modification of current code base. ALEF NULA, a.s. has principal authors in its team, which has tremendous experience with Motorola STBs including development of native applications.

Media Platform is compact software product which covers all necessary components for delivering IPTV and VoD services. All key components are developed by our development team. This is unique opportunity for delivering the best to our customers. Key platform components are encoder (non-realtime), ingest server (needed for IPTV value added services), cluster storage, streamers, application servers, cache server and needed applications on the STB.

We consider following things as key-features of Media Platform:

Scalability and flexibility of the whole solutions at all necessary layers.
High availability of all components and at all levels. For example, STB supports intelli- gent reconnect for VoD services, when is able to continue playback from different streamer without disrupting user experience.
We believe in the clear design of the platform, which enables further improvements and adding new features.
New services from other partners could be integrated thanks to additional features (like Single Sign On). Example could be support for gaming and betting.
Every media stream is delivered separately, which means that asset in VoD could be available with many versions of e.g. audio tracks, but only currently requested streams are carried over the network. ISMA/IETF standard as supported for streaming as well as MPEG2-TS.
Platform has support for advanced codecs (AAC, AVC) and high-definition (HD) content.
Media Platform is complete out of the box solutions. This significantly reduces integration costs.
Platform has integrated support for virtualization, which enables operators to resale service to small ISPs connected through their backbone.
Platform provides interfaces for other systems, such as billing and invoicing systems or customer relationship management systems (CRM)
Authentication of STBs is based on use of X.509 certificates.
Support for automatic EPG (Electronic Programming Guide) updates. EPG data are used for control of some IPTV value added services
Unique stream-oriented cluster storage, which supports additional service such as:

Pause TV user can pause live broadcast, unicast stream is delivered after the playback is resumed. Administrator could control settings for each channel separately.

Start over TV user can start watching of current show from the beginning. EPG data are used for show boundaries synchronization.

Time-shift TV feature similar to Start over TV, but user could select previous show as well (within some time span).

nPVR (Network Personal Video Recorder) user could mark shows for recording (even if they are overlap). Service provider could enforce fair use by limiting space available for user. Recorded shows could be categorized (by user) into (user defined) categories. Trick-play streams could be generated for recored as well to enable multi-speed fast forward and rewind.

Commodity hardware is used in the whole platform (we have currently certified DELL and Supermicro). Used operating system is Debian GNU/Linux
